MALVERN Writers Circle is launching its new anthology with a public reading next Saturday, March 1.

The reading will be at the Lyttelton Well, in Church Street, Great Malvern, from 10.30am until 1.30pm.

The anthology, Beginnings and Endings, is a mix of prose and poetry.

Authors featured in the book will be reading some of their work. Free tea and coffee will be available.

Malvern Writers' Circle has around 30 members who meet every month.

The pieces reflect contemporary issues, such as violence (James and The Threat) and the imminence of war (The Last Post and Peace at no Cost).

The impact of proposed legislation of the performance of live music is explored in Swansong?, while the cult of Diana is the subject of The Dress.

The collection ranges internationally, with pieces on Budapest and Vienna and The Gumshoe's Christ-mas, set in New York.

History and personal rem-embrances are explored in Sand Bay, Seaside Cottages, Lemon Dips, A Little 18th Century Wealth and Down and Out in Worcestershire.

Humour features in The Dedicated Follower of Fashion, City Bells, And No Birds Sing and Mirror Image, while nature is reflected in Spring in Malvern and At the Hill Top.

Copies will be available, priced £2.50, from bookshops, or by mail, post-free, from Gwen Farrar, 51 Old Wyche Road, Malvern WR14 4EP.
