THIS year marks the 33rd annual spring show of Staunton & District WI and it speaks well of the enthusiasm of its members in keeping it fresh and attractive to exhibitors all those years, some of whom have been competing since its inception. Corse & Staunton Village Hall makes a perfect venue for the event with its large hall and annexe and plenty of parking space. The sub-committee, under the chairmanship of Barbara Bubb, have held regular meetings since the last show to draw up a schedule of some 69 classes including children's. They include a large section of all types of handicrafts, floral art, bulbs, pot plants, cookery, preserves and wines and the show is open to all. In addition there will be a plant and cake stall, bottle stall and raffle and demonstration. The show takes place on Saturday, March 8, starting at 2pm. Admission 30p, children free.

Fifty members from Staunton, Corse, Hartpury, Ashleworth and Maisemore celebrated Staunton & District Over 60's Club anniversary in the lounge at Johnstone Close. Disappointedly the entertainers were unable to be there so a bingo session was held. It was followed by a varied buffet, sweets, sherry and a birthday cake. At the first meeting in February members were able to try out for themselves mobility aids from beds and scooters to wheelies. At the meeting on Monday, February 17, Jane was there with fashions she is taking over from Hannah Morgan. On March 3 Gary will be there for music and movement and later in the month the club will be going to Hartpury Community Chapel for morning coffee and an opportunity to see the recently erected bee shelter in the churchyard. The club covers a wide area and a minibus from Gloucester runs through Maisemore, Hartpury then via Ashleworth to Staunton. There is plenty of room for new members says Mrs Nanette Bevan, club leader who invites anyone to come along to meet old friends and new and enjoy a chat over a cup of coffee or tea, you will be made so welcome.
