A FILMAKER is shooting a murder mystery movie in Worcester.

City filmmaker Matt Muller announced plans to shoot Attraverso Gli Occhi Di Un Killer or Through the eyes of a Killer in November.

Since then he has cast performing arts students from Worcester College of Technology for the principal eight characters.

Matt, from Warndon Villages, has recruited Hereford filmmaker Neil Osmond as cameraman for the film.

Neil has also made his own low-budget local films including The Beacon, in which terrorists launch an attack from the Malvern Beacon.

Application

Because of time, budget and location restraints Matt has had to cut the scenes with 100 extras from the finished script.

The film is now being funded privately after an application to the Arts Council fell through.

"So far everything is going to schedule and we've just started rehearsals," said Matt, aged 25.

"I plan to begin shooting on Sunday, March 9 with a first cut ready by the end of April.

"The film is set in a fictional town, but with the Cathedral and the New Bridge there are so many fantastic locations in Worcester we might as well use them."

This will be Matt's first feature after graduating from the Welsh National Film School last year.

The plot follows Marco Totti, a successful young photographer, who becomes the prime suspect after a serious of brutal and unsolved murders.

Marco begins to search for the identity of the killer in order to solve the case and clear his name.

However, he is drawn into a more sinister game of cat and mouse as the killer begins to murder all those around him.

"I've always had a fascination with the darker side of humanity, how and why people react and the extremes that they go to," said Matt.

"I was looking for a film which would bring back the visceral nature or horror that was displayed in films like Mario Bava's, Bay of Blood and the unique films of Dario Argento.

Madness

"I also wanted to combine these aspects with my interest in human behaviour.

"To me, Attraverso Gli Occhi Di Un Killer is a study of the human condition and a character's descent into jealousy and total madness."

Once completed, Matt plans to send the film to every festival as well as a possible first screening in Worcester.
