WITH regard to the article on a skateboard park at Broadway (February 6).
Back in the 80s a group of youngsters and parents from Pershore were in a similar situation.
Having spent much time and effort in trying to find a suitable location for a BMX track, the then Pershore Youth Centre, knowing the lack of facilities for this age group, agreed that part of the land at the PYF (now Co-op and part of the car park) could be allocated for this.
A club was formed, and with much enthusiasm an amount of money was raised from jumble sales, donations etc.
The council (apart from Mr John Smith who gave his support) made things very difficult, and in the end no track was built.
The money, a small amount today but worth much more then, was left in the council's care. Hopefully it was invested, and by now would become available if a similar club is ever formed.
Hopefully the Broadway skateboard park will have a happier ending. Good Luck!
