A CAMPAIGN for action at a "dangerous" Kidderminster road junction has been backed by highways advisers.

More than 2,000 residents have already signed a petition calling for traffic lights or a roundabout where Sutton Park Road and Bewdley Hill meet.

Now Wyre Forest Highways Partnership Forum - made up of county and district councillors who advise the partnership - have pledged to register their support for residents with Worcestershire County Council.

Wyre Forest district councillor Marcus Hart, who represents Sutton Park, said a £500,000 roundabout was less likely but said a "much cheaper option" was traffic lights at about £50,000.

"That still might be out of reach of Wyre Forest's budget but funding could be found from the county hall budget," he said at a forum meeting on Friday.

Mr Hart has said Lea Bank Avenue and Greatfield Road are used as "rat runs" for drivers avoiding the congested junction and lives are being put a risk.
