DAVID Officer has been drafted in to arrest Worcester Rugby Club's slump in form.

The former Scotland 'A' international centre has been named in the Warriors side to face London Welsh at Sixways on Saturday (3pm) as Worcester look to hit back from Sunday's defeat at Orrell.

Officer has been out of action since November with an ankle problem but his recovery is a timely one for coaches John Brain and Andy Keast who watched in horror as Worcester went down to an injury time try last weekend.

"It's a real boost to have David back," said Keast. "Obviously he is a very experienced player who I think will help Will Wigram. It's good to see a centre come back into the reckoning -- we're not used to it!"

Wigram is given another chance at centre after his first start at Orrell. Gary Trueman is again sidelined with an ankle injury so Duncan Roke drops to the bench.

James Brown, who himself made his first start on Sunday since a long-term injury absence, is named as a replacement because of the return to fitness of Tim Walsh. Craig Chalmers is again ruled out with a thigh strain.

Brain and Keast have also shuffled their pack in a bid to turn around Worcester's fortunes. The front and second row stays the same but Craig Quinnell is dropped while Gavin Pfister is struggling with a shoulder problem.

A late decision will be made on whether the South African can take his place on the bench. Richard Nias is given the nod for the openside berth, while Jim Jenner returns and Christian Evans moves to blindside.

"Craig Quinnell is an experienced international player and he knows that his performance on Sunday was unacceptable for Worcester Rugby Club," added Keast.

"The players have to prove their worth to the club on Saturday. We played at about 25 per cent of our potential at Orrell and that is just unacceptable."

On-loan hooker James Parkes is on the bench for the first time since his move from Saracens.
