Woofferton 0 Hinton 1

FOR the second week running Woofferton found themselves on the wrong end of 1-0 results in Herefordshire cup-ties.

Whereas last week they were disappointed to lose to fellow premier league side, Ewyas Harold in a disappointing game, on this occasion the club thought they had put up a brave performance against high-riding West Midlands League outfit Hinton in the semi-final of the HFA Charity Bowl.

The decisive goal came as early as the second minute. When the home team lost possession in midfield, Hinton produced a quick attack down the right wing, which was swept home by Mike Marsden with the aid of a deflection.

The game flowed from end-to-end but clear-cut chances were rare. The visitors could have doubled their tally but blazed a penalty well wide of the target after half an hour. The second half picked up where the first left off. Woofferton enjoyed plenty of possession but found it hard to break down a resolute defence.

The luck was not on their side when defender, Mark Tonkinson beat the defence at a corner but saw his header rattle the bar with the keeper beaten. Hinton finished the stronger side and nearly scored when a shot hit the post.
