BRAZILIAN Soccer Schools Evesham just missed out on the semi-finals of the UK and Ireland Futebol de Sal£o championships on Saturday, in the LEGO Cup finals in Manchester.

The team of Oli Clark, Jack Simons, Luke Underwood, Scott Linford, Oli Steele and Tyson Eyo, were led by head coach of Brazilian Soccer Schools Warrington, Graham Sweeney, and entered the finals as contenders to lift the coveted award.

Throughout the group stages the team played with creativity, strength and flair, but narrowly missed out on qualification from a strong group which included eventual runners-up North Wales, group-winners Brighton, defending champions Leeds, and Southampton.

The performances of the team were applauded and commended throughout with the goals of Steele and Eyo, the creativity of Simons and Underwood, and the goalkeeping of Clark. However, it was the form of Linford that caught the eye, and he was selected to represent the school in the All Stars finale.

Head coach of Brazilian Soccer Schools Evesham, Brian Steele, said: "I am thrilled at how well the boys performed and that we are one of the leading teams at this Under 16 age group in the UK."

Evesham FDS Brazilian Soccer School are at present looking to recruit for their Under 9s Development Squad. Matches will be played regularly against other FDS teams. For information call 01789 778434.
