A BADSEY woman has come up with the winning name - The Orchards Brewers Fayre and Travel Inn - for the new restaurant bar opening in Evesham in June.

Whitbread Restaurants asked Journal readers to come up with the perfect name for the new Brewers Fayre and Travel Inn on the A46 at Twyford, and the competition attracted hundreds of entries.

"The response and quality of the reader entries was very high," said Whitbread spokesman Cheryl Brooks. "One suggestion was very popular and due to this fact the name chosen for the new pub restaurant is The Orchard Brewers Fayre and Travel Inn when it opens in June."

The competition winner was Cheryl Wilson, of Chapel Street, Badsey, who will collect £100-worth of Whitbread Leisure vouchers redeemable at thousands of outlets nationwide.

The two runners-up, Mrs E Orpwood, of Priest Lane, Pershore, and Mrs L M de Vine, of Mount View, Evesham, each get a meal for four people.

A delighted Mrs Wilson said: "I thought it was the only logical name, situated as it is in the middle of apple and plum orchards."

Work is well advanced on the £2.7 million project by Brewers Fayre, the leading pub-restaurant chain in the UK. There are currently around 240 throughout the country.

Customers will be able to relax in the stylish yet comfortable surroundings of the new restaurant bar, which features all that is best about Brewers Fayre - real value for money food and drink in superb surroundings adjacent to Evesham Country Park. The 40-bedroom -Travel Inn hotel alongside will offer comfortable en-suite accommodation at an affordable price.
