HEREFORD and Worcester Fire Brigade and the government yesterday launched a campaign to warn the public of fire dangers that can be found in the kitchen.
Chief Officer David O'Dwyer said: "Every day, kitchen fires kill and injure people in their own homes.
"This campaign is all about preventing fires. The real danger lies in leaving cooking unattended.
"As our survey shows, it's easy to get distracted but this can end in tragedy.
"Our message is simple, fire starts when your attention stops."
Statistics show that on average one person a week is injured in fires that start accidentally in their kitchens.
