MIDFIELDER Ian Vogel collected his first yellow cards in 11 years on his way to being sent off as Chaddesley Corbett were shocked in West Midlands League Division One South.

They lost 3-0 at home to lowly Malvern Town Reserves with their worst display of the season but did field a young team.

Boss Martin Westcott admitted: "We didn't play to our strengths and made basic mistakes. Hopefully, we'll sort it out in our next game against Ludlow."

Chaddesley played fluent football in the first 15 minutes with Kidderminster Harriers youngster Terry Smith impressing on the left.

They fashioned a few chances for the hard-working Gavin Davies but Malvern took the lead on 20 minutes when Peter Rose hammered home from a corner.

Chaddesley had failed to clear and conceded again five minutes before half-time when Dean Spires' 40-yard free-kick bounced into the area and looped over stranded keeper Steve Parker.

Craig Pratt, who earlier had a fierce drive blocked, hit the side netting from a Smith cross as the home side started the second period well.

Jamie Gardner made his first start of the season as substitute, while Keith Roberts and Sam Mason both gave good debuts after being introduced later on.

Chaddesley were down to 10 men though when Vogel received two harsh yellows for fouls within 60 seconds and was given his marching orders on 55 minutes.

Malvern increased their lead as Lee Hooper broke to fire past Parker with 10 minutes left.

Chaddesley, whose man-of-the-match was Matt Baynton, have now scored just twice in the last five games but are also looking less secure at the back.

The players are asked to meet at Brintons for 1pm on Saturday before they play Ludlow Town Reserves.
