I AM writing to applaud the district council's officers' excellent work in removing the trees from the junction of Heronswood Road and Spennells Valley Road in Kidderminster.

Previously, when walking across the playing fields, it was not possible to clearly see the traffic speeding along the Spennells Valley Road, nor the fine proportions of the mobile phone mast on the golf course opposite. Unfortunately this view was obscured by the excessive number of trees. the area where trees have been cut down on the Spennells.

Regretfully, I have to advise council officials that there still remain a small number of trees on Spennells which, apparently, have been overlooked.

I know your chainsaw wardens (sorry, nature wardens) are doing their utmost to remove every living thing exceeding 6ft 6ins in height from the area. However, it is obvious the council is failing to provide them with the necessary resources to complete their important task of reducing the environmental quality of the estate to that of the tree-less wastes of Iceland.

In these times of financial restraint, I suggest that the tree fellers be augmented by removing the crossing wardens from their comparatively unimportant roles and, with the aid of suitably sharpened "lollipops," they should be able to quickly remove any remaining trees.

I trust the council will find the above proposals helpful in their plans and that we can all enjoy the results of the chainsaw massacre which the council has in store for us.
