RECORD-BREAKING mot-orbike legend Len Vale-Onslow was treated to an early 103rd birthday present when he was given a personal tour of the Morgan Motor Company - by the company owner.

Motorbike designer Mr Vale-Onslow, who will be 103 in May, is recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest motorcyclist.

And his present was made particularly special as he had known the founder of the business but had never visited the Malvern site before.

The trip was organised by his son Peter and family-friend Jim Pratt, and, during the historic tour, Mr Vale-Onslow met up with company owner Peter Morgan, 83

Delighted

"I got a call from Jim and, though larger groups have to book, it was no problem at all for them to come," said Mr Morgan.

Mr Pratt, of Albert Park Road, Malvern, was delighted to accompany his friend around the world's only family-run motor manufacturer.

"It was fantastic to be able to do something for such a great man," he said.

"Len still gets recognised in the street by motorbike enthusiasts and he never complains or grumbles about anything. He's a miracle."

His daughter, Jean Lees, was also thrilled with the success of the day.

"It was wonderful and he revelled in it," she said.

"He thought it was brilliant."

Mr Vale-Onslow began building motorcycles in 1925 and is world famous for his Super Onslow Special.

He still visits his motorcycle sales and repairs business - L H Vale-Onslow Motors Ltd - two or three times a week.

"Even now he puts us right if we make mistakes," said his son, Peter, who runs the Birmingham- based firm.

Now living at Parkheath, Hallow, Mr Vale-Onslow has been on TV shows including This is Your Life, Kilroy and Esther.

He celebrated his 100th birthday by riding one of his own motorcycles past Buckingham Palace.

"I'd like to thank everyone for making it a special day," he said.
