After a series of close encounters it was Summerall who topped the group as he managed to win all his games on the night against some determined and experienced opposition.

Elsewhere, House Singles champion Gary Francis progressed in Group six from another group which on paper was hard to call.

After losing to Paul Spinks in his opener Francis managed to win the rest of his group games eventually beating youngster Josh Craze and Stuart Palmer in his final group matches to progress to the quarter-finals.

In group seven, Ian Keen dominated the night's matches winning all his games while also managing not to concede any racks in the process.

Joining him in the next round was the other qualifier Fred Tandy who, after losing his group match to Calvin Blandford, turned the tables on him in a closely fought play-off later in the night after both players had lost just the once during the round-robin games.

The next round of the Presidents Cup takes place later this year.
