CALLS continue to be made to move Redditch market from its newly opened purpose-built covered area back to Church Green.
In a motion to be heard by Redditch Council on Monday, January 20, Councillor Nigel Hicks has asked for the market to be moved back to the previous temporary location.
Traders have claimed their trade dropped by as much as 75 per cent after moving to the new market area behind Debenhams shortly before Christmas.
Many disgruntled traders were left fearing for their livelihoods and moves were made by the council to help rectify the problem, which included a 20 per cent reduction in rent.
The motion calls on the council to apologise to the people of Redditch and the market traders for the timing of the move, the lack of signage and pedestrian traffic and the lack of adequate protection against the weather.
