FECKENHAM manager Lee Adams described the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup as 'winnable' ahead of Tuesday's planned quarter final at Pershore.

The Millers shocked Dr Martens Western side Evesham United in the first round and Adams said his side's recent upturn in form had put him in a confident mood.

But he was frustrated after the tie was postponed on Monday evening because of a frozen surface at King George V Playing Field.

It was the rollercoaster defeat to Pershore which saw star striker Brian Powell dismissed and suffer a 112 day ban from the Worcestershire County FA.

Former Alvechurch striker Powell has appealed against the severity of the ban and his hearing is due today (Thursday).

Whatever the outcome, Adams is hoping to have Powell free for Saturday's daunting trip to league leaders Rugby (ko 2.45pm) because the county FA bans usually run from Monday to Monday.

The Millers gaffer is already preparing for life after his leading scorer by making a seven day approach to Valley landlords Redditch United for young striker Shaun Maynard.

Adams spotted the forward, who plays in the Midland Combination Reserve Division for United's second string, playing Sunday football for Studley Sporting and hopes to have him on board for the weekend.

But he has lost the services of fans' favourite Andy Underwood after the prolific forward opted to drop two divisions to join neighbours Halfords.

And defensive stalwarts Mark Cund and Dean Hadley have also left, joining Premier Division rivals Fernhill County Sports.

The New Year's Day return at Alvechurch and Saturday's trip to Southam fell victim to the weather.
