SAILING: Jeff Halford and Dawn Bradley held off Mark and Michelle Tromans' challenge to win Trimpley Sailing Club's Sunday Icicle Main Series for GP14 dinghies.
The Tromans needed to take both races and duly triumphed in the first by 24 seconds, ahead of Halford with Bradley and the Fletcher dinghy.
In a pulsating final contest, the Fletchers pulled out a good lead of more than 10 boat lengths.
It did not last as the Tromans mastered a good breeze on the second lap to forge ahead with Halford and Bradley at their heels.
But on the final lap Halford took a course down the centre of the pool, skillfully defending a late Tromans charge to win the decider by just nine seconds.
