MARTIAL ARTS: Birthday girl Leanne Scott celebrated her big day by winning a gold medal at the National Kumite Ju-jitsu Championships in Worcester.
Scott, 13, did not make any mistakes in her first competition while representing Stourport UK Kickboxing Club.
They were the first kickboxing club to enter the 350-fighter competition after a four-month crash course in the skills needed from judo coach Sean Kealey and club instructor Brian Smith.
Scott's brother Jack, nine, fought in one of the boys biggest categories at U-40kg weight and missed out on a bronze by one point.
In the men's 80kg section, Keith Haycock took silver in his first championship and junior instructor Ian Burgess won another silver in the over-85kg category.
Anyone who wants more information on the club can call Smith on 07810 712854.
