OPERATIONS have been cancelled at the Alexandra Hospital because a sickness bug is sweeping the wards.
A large number of staff were off with diarrhoea and vomiting over Christmas and the new year and many were still absent at the start of this week.
Precautions have been put in place to prevent the bug from spreading and beds have been closed off.
Ten operations due to take place on Friday were called off because of the outbreak.
