BARNT Green saw off West Midlands 6-4 in a nailbiting clash in Division One of the Bromsgrove and Redditch League.

Jason McFaul and Ian Scott both had two wins for Barnt Green with Mark Cornish getting one.

McFaul and Scott then teamed up to win the doubles and get the victory.

For Phones, Colin Would and Don Shillingford won two each.

The other two fixtures were rather one-sided affairs with Lickey Monarchs beating Droitwich B 10-0 and Droitwich trouncing SPSP 9-1.

In Division 2 the best game of the week was a 5-5 draw between Barnt Green B and Hillcrest.

For Barnt Green, Pat McCabe was in great form, winning his three singles, with John Davies and Jim McGuire getting one each.

Hillcrest replied with Graeme Farrell and Alan McLoughlan both winning two each and teaming up to win the doubles and get the draw when they beat McCabe and Davies 21-15, 17-21, 21-12.

Carter Retail B were at home to Barnt Green Hornets and came out 6-4 winners.

For Carter, John Ewell and Martin Borg both won two with Graham Jones getting one.

John and Martin then teamed up to win the doubles and get the win.

For the Hornets Ivor Anderson did best, winning two with Neil Anderson and Tony Lawton getting one each.

Studley Road Nomads could only manage two players away to Studley Road Bulldogs but still managed to win 6-4.

For Nomads Bernie Leech won his three games, with wife Sue winning two.

They then joined up to win the doubles and seal the victory. Richard Walter recorded Bulldogs' only win.

Droitwich C were no match for the Studley Road Terriers team of Pete Hartles, Mike Kirnan and John Dignum and went down 10-0.

Carter Retail C were away at West Midlands Phones C and went down 9-1 but it was closer than the score suggests, with four of the ten games going to the best of three.
