IT was thought some sort of control or clean-up would eventually take place regarding the smoking habits of visitors to the Kingfisher Centre but with the new shops attracting more people, especially during heavy Christmas shopping, it seems it is completely out of control.

People like myself who suffer with heart disease and others with asthma problems should expect clean air in public places these days.

After shopping at TJ Hughes, a visit to their cafe was decided upon but the amount of smoke drifting everywhere and two women smoking in the non-smoking area meant a quick retreat was decided.

Dinaways cafe's non-smoking area is situated on an elevated platform while the larger smoking area is below.

Don't people realise heat rises and takes the smoke with it?

It is a well-known fact there are far more non-smokers than smokers and yet the non-smokers have far less space to dine.

I believe we all know what problems it causes and it should be banned altogether from public places.

Do the councillors and politicians look at both sides of the argument, then toss a coin, or have they no guts to decide to do the right thing for the benefit of all and quality of life?
