A BATCHLEY woman believes her beloved cat was subjected to a brutal beating after he returned home with a severe head injury.
Mossop staggered back to his Batchley Road home last Monday, blinded in both eyes and suffering a badly broken jaw and nasty head wound.
Outraged owner Tracy Thomas, who has taken in and rescued scores of animals, believes Mossop was not hit by a car but was beaten by a person.
Vet Anne Lencioni, of Special Friends Veterinary Centre in Batchley, said: "We don't think the cat was hit by a car. Something else happened to it.
"It could be somebody hit it with something.
"There is a wound on the top of the cat's head, his jaw is fractured and dislocated and he has been blinded. He was hit very hard."
Mossop has to be tube fed round-the-clock after undergoing emergency surgery to fix his badly broken mouth.
