THREE Kidderminster mums had more to celebrate than just the arrival of 2003 after giving birth to New Year's Day babies at Kidderminster Hospital.

Louise Ward said she was "excited" by the birth of second child Imogen, who was due in the middle of the month - but decided to make an early appearance at 9.25am. Louise Ward with baby Imogen.

The little bundle of joy weighed 7lbs.

Mrs Ward, 31, a housewife, of Bennett Street, said: "The midwives at the hospital had been very helpful and we are really grateful to them."

Her husband Brandon, 31, an electrician, said having two little girls at home could mean "double trouble".

Meanwhile, bouncing baby girl Sophie Minns was born at 11.28am. Emily Minns, 19 months, proudly

presents her little sister Sophie.

Sophie, who weighed 9lbs 6oz, is the second child of Claire, 29, and education adviser Nigel, 35.

Claire, a primary school teacher, of Ludlow Road, said: "I feel a bit tired but I am very pleased that I have got two beautiful girls. It's lovely to have them both."

Nigel added: "We're very excited. We wanted their ages to be close together, so they can get on well."

Emily Watkiss, who was born at 3.56pm and weighed 7lbs 5oz, completed the town hospital's New Year hat -trick.

Proud dad Tony, 28, a trainee driving instructor, said Emily was born 10 days early. mum Mags Watkiss with baby Emily.

Emily's mum Mags, a 29-year-old secondary school teacher, also of Ludlow Road, said: "I am thrilled to have my second child - it's brilliant."
