A WORCESTER charity is looking for adventurous and sporty workers to take part in fund-raising ventures.

From dragon boat racing to snooker, tug-of-war, clay pigeon shooting and football, the county branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association has a packed schedule of events offering something for everyone.

The charity now wants to hear from any clubs, factories or groups interested in its variety of schemes to help boost much-needed funds.

"We would love to hear from any companies interested in our schemes. We think they will be real team-building events," said Tim Stavert, fund-raising co-ordinator.

"All the money we generate goes towards research and also buying equipment for sufferers and carers within the county to help them live and cope with the disease."

Last year, the charity entered its MND Motivator Team in the Dragon Boat Regatta in Worcester, raising £1,400.

The money was spent on providing facilities such as easy-access toilets at homes of sufferers in Worcestershire.

There is no known cure for the degenerative disease, which slowly wastes away the muscles and nerves and Tim hopes local groups will play their part in the fund-raising.

"This is a charity, like many others, that doesn't receive any Government funding and we need people to take part in fund-raising events to give hope to people who live with MND," he said.

The Worcester group presented its latest cheque to the branch chairman Carol Patz at its Christmas meeting in the Warndon Community Centre. A talk on Christmas cards and a raffle raise a further £120 on the night.
