HOT prospect Matt Lewis' growing reputation is set to earn him his chance for Kidderminster Harriers in Division Three this season - if he is still at the club.

Lewis, who made two promising substitute league appearances in 2001-02, linked up with Aston Villa on Monday for two weeks' training.

Harriers boss Ian Britton agreed to let the Premiership giants have a look at the 18-year-old but there have been no talks over a permanent deal.

After scoring in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Stratford, Lewis should be recalled from Villa for next Wednesday's big friendly at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers (7.45pm).

Lewis was hailed as "a future £1 million player" when signed by Jan Molby last season from non-league Marconi.

He has scored regularly at reserve and youth team level, attracting scouts from the likes of Liverpool and Villa.

His team-mates went on to secure a comfortable 4-0 win at Evesham on Monday.

But forward Drewe Broughton picked up a groin strain to keep him out of tomorrow's home game with new Division One club Reading (7.45pm).

Midfielder Daire Doyle will be a doubt due to an ankle knock.

Harriers then head to Evesham's Dr Martens League Western Division rivals Solihull on Sunday (3pm).

The club are hoping for up to 3,500 people to watch the Wolves match with a strong away support expected, including their Kidderminster-based fans.

Colin Larkin should come up against his former team-mates after last season's successful loan spell at Harriers.

Britton has been delighted with pre-season so far which has slowly pushed the players in order to increase endurance and stamina levels.

Popular midfielder Paul Webb, released by Harriers last season, is retiring from football to concentrate on his job as a prison officer.
