PROMOTION-WINNING boss Rod Brown has sensationally quit Stourport Swifts to take over at Dr Martens League Western Division rivals Redditch United.

Brown, who took Swifts up from the Midland Alliance last season, revealed his decision to the club late Wednesday afternoon.

And he seems set to take assistant manager Gary Whild and experienced player-coach Brendan Hackett with him.

It is a major blow for Swifts who are seventh in the table after an impressive start to life in the new league and there are now sure to be concerns over a player exodus.

Redditch had parted company with manager Nicky Cross and his assistant Gary Hackett earlier this week after a dismal 2-1 home loss to bottom club Swindon Supermarine.

They are fourth from bottom and chairman Rod Laight is looking for Brown to pull his team away from the relegation zone by the new year.
