THE goals seem to be flying in all over the place since striker Tim Langford took the step up to management at Stourport Swifts.

Langford was assistant boss in the 3-2 defeat to Halesowen Town and took over the reins for Saturday's FA Trophy shock 5-4 win.

And the ex-Wycombe Wanderers star joked: "People must think I've been reading the Kevin Keegan handbook."

Swifts were 4-0 up at half-time but were nearly taken to a replay over a stunning 90 minutes which included plenty of injury time.

Langford added: "Saturday was very nerve-wracking towards the end but we were absolutely superb in the first half.

"But in the second half I wouldn't say the writing was on the wall but you started to think it was Halesowen all over again.

"We knew we had some heavy legs out there. With us not having a big squad, I was over the moon with the result.

"The last thing we wanted was a long journey up to Bishop Auckland on a Wednesday night.

"I'm pleased for the chairman and the club. We're not frightened of anybody and will give anyone a game."

Langford admitted they would have to work on "shutting up shop" after recent games.

But it still proved a great start as Swifts begin life after their former manager Rod Brown.

Brown left for Dr Martens Western Division rivals Redditch United with assistant Gary Whild and player Brendan Hackett.
