TWO new signings could be added to the depleted Stourport Swifts ranks in time for Saturday's Dr Martens Western Division visit to Shepshed.

Player-boss Tim Langford is hoping to introduce a striker and a midfielder from a higher level on a loan basis.

Langford's side booked their place in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup final with a 2-1 midweek win at Bromsgrove.

But the fitness of two star players will be of concern at training tonight with Adam Nicholls taking a kick to the ankle and Alex Cowley suffering groin trouble.

Langford, who is still at least two weeks away from action with a hamstring strain, said: "Like the Bromsgrove game, Shepshed is potentially a banana skin.

"Looking at the league table, we may be expected to win but that's not always the case and we will have to earn the right to play."

Swifts are down to 12th in the table after Sutton Coldfield's victory on Tuesday with Shepshed seven points away in 16th.

Of the win over Bromsgrove, a delighted Langford said: "We deserved to win and 2-1 probably flattered them.

"Defensively, we were absolutely superb but all through the team we played well and you couldn't knock the effort at all.

"I said at half-time that we had to get the ball down and play a bit as it tended to be in the air too much. When we did get it down, we caused them a few problems."

Langford has added another teenager to his squad with the signing of winger Ricky Sandhu, brought along by coach John Powell.

Meanwhile, the Swifts boss revealed they were not unhappy when Saturday's game with Solihull was postponed due to the weather.

He added: "It did us a favour really as we were down to the bare bones. Adam Nicholls' wife went into labour and he would have been away at the hospital."
