STOURPORT Swifts boss Tim Langford paraded new signing O'Neil Donaldson for the visit of promotion favourites Solihull Borough.

And the former Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield Wednesday striker made a dream debut, netting a deserved equaliser in the home side's 1-1 draw.

Langford only managed to sign the 32-year-old marksman hours before kick-off but it was worth the hassle as Swifts recorded their first home point of the season.

They controlled the early stages and were unlucky not to open their tally on 15 minutes when Donaldson sent John Shirley scampering through but the former Hereford United midfielder just missed out to Borough keeper Mike Payne.

But after holding the upper hand, Swifts conceded the opener on 22 minutes when striker Andy Corbett, on loan from Kidderminster Harriers, drilled home from 25 yards for his fifth goal of the season.

Stourport hit back and after Donaldson went close with a header, Simon Marsh's diving effort flew straight at the keeper.

Nigel Laker was denied an equaliser early in the second half when Payne saved well and it needed a good save at the other end from Clarke to deny Corbett a second moments later.

But with 56 minutes gone, Swifts levelled as Donaldson collected the ball just outside the area, linked up with Shirley and then forced the ball home from 12 yards.

Giddings could have added a second for Swifts three minutes later but was denied by a Payne save, while Corbett was again denied by Clarke at the other.

Stourport have no match on Saturday and Langford expects to have a number of his walking wounded back in contention for the trip to Rugby United the following weekend.
