NEW Stourport Swifts manager Dave Titterton certainly seems to have the golden touch.

After stopping the rot with a hard-earned draw at Clevedon last week, the former Ludlow Town assistant saw his men claim their first league win of the season with a battling 1-0 victory over Bedworth United.

Titterton had promised supporters that there was more to come from the Walshes Meadow side after last week's draw.

And they duly obliged with new signing Michael Moore marking his debut with the match-winner at the start of the second half.

Two others were also figuring in their first match for Swifts and the manager said: "Neither Michael Moore nor Leon Blake had played for four or five weeks, while John Cotterill is coming back from injury. But all of them had great debuts.

"But it was more than that. The attitude, organisation and discipline shown by the entire squad is what won us the game."

In an incident-packed match, that saw both sides reduced to ten men, Swifts had the pick of the first half chances when former Hinckley United and Stourbridge midfielder Blake curled an effort just around the upright.

But it was Moore who bagged the crucial goal on 47 minutes.

Tim Nicholls floated over a corner and when Kerry Giddings headed on, the former Redditch United ace was on hand to volley home at the far post.

Giddings was sent off two minutes later after collecting his second yellow card and he was joined in the dressing rooms by Jamie Hood who collected a straight red card late on for a lunge on Nicholls.

Bedworth's lively substitute Chris Partridge twice went close to levelling but pushed one shot wide and then had an effort disallowed for offside.
