RAIN, rain go away will be the silent wish emanating from Stourport Swifts' player-manager Tim Langford ahead of his side's home clash with Solihull Borough tonight (7.45).

Heavy rain at the weekend led to the postponement of Saturday's match at Walshes Meadow and further downpours today could scupper this evening's game.

Visitors Solihull are currently riding high in fourth spot in the Dr Martens Western Division after administering a 6-0 thrashing to Bilston Town at the weekend.

Langford, though, remains confident of picking up points after he had his scouts watch Solihull's exploits.

"The report we've had is that they are beatable and if we play to the standard we know we are capable of then it should be a good game," he said.

Steve Ulfig is the only absentee from Langford's squad but the manager is resigned to losing midfielder Matt Southwick to Redditch United.

"My gut feeling is he will go but we have spoken to him and he knows he is part of my plans but it's up to him," added Langford.
