IT WAS the same old story at Walshes Meadow as Stourport slumped to their fourth straight defeat with a 2-1 Dr Martens Western Division reverse against Cinderford Town.

And when Swifts manager Dave Titterton re-reads Saturday's programme notes, his pre-match worries will send shivers down his spine.

The ex-Coventry City man bemoaned his side's ability to play good football and failure to kill teams off which is exactly what happened against an average Cinderford outfit.

Just as predicted during the first half alone they created eight good scoring opportunities and should have been out of sight by the break.

But lapses in concentration meant for the second match running they had their opponents on the ropes but could not deliver the knock-out blow.

Perhaps the writing was on the wall when John Malpass was caught in possession from the opening kick-off, gifting a goal to Town's Paul Donnely with barely 20 seconds gone.

If it was, the tireless Tim Nicholls refused to read it and could have finished the match with a hat-trick instead of a worthless consolation.

Nicholls pulled Swifts level in the 12th minute, latching onto Kerry Giddings' knock-down to hook home his first goal of the season from close range.

For the rest of the half they piled forward with Dave Davies having a goal ruled out for offside and Nicholls, Giddings and John Cotterill all going close.

But 20 minutes from time they were caught on the break by Scott Griffin who lifted the ball over keeper Rob Clarke and into the net to leave Stourport shell-shocked.
