AN NHS drive to provide tailor-made GP services for specific communities could be introduced at a surgery in Studley.
Dr Margaret Buckley, based at the Studley Health Centre, High Street, has had her application approved for a Personal Medical Services (PMS) pilot project by the Department of Health.
The contracts have elements which are locally driven incorporated into them, unlike standard GP contracts.
So if the scheme goes live in April, it could see extra funds to meet the specific needs of the community.
A similar PMS pilot is already running at Pool Medical Centre, Pool Road, which has set up a teenage health clinic aimed at the village's large youth population.
Another six South Warwickshire PMS applications have been approved.
The funding formula for PMS contracts initially favoured urban areas but has since been changed to recognise the needs of rural areas.
As a result, the existing Pool Medical Centre PMS pilot should also be able to attract more funding in the future.
