THE finances are looking rosier at Aggborough after the club netted just over £200,000 thanks to the latest Lee Hughes transfer.

Kidderminster Harriers were due the final installment of the striking sensation's sell-on clause next August.

But his cut-price £2.5m switch from Coventry City back to West Bromwich Albion meant the money became immediately payable.

Harriers had inserted the sell-on clause when Hughes left for the Baggies in 1997 after scoring goals for fun in the Conference.

The cash boost is likely to be used to cover costs and fund crucial plans for more seating rather than player transfers.

Harriers missed out on a second windfall on Saturday after Darlington arrived without proposed signing Faustino Asprilla, meaning a lower gate than expected of 2,488.

The Colombian striker had turned his back on the deal and flew off to the Middle East on Friday.
