EVESHAM Bowling Club staged its presentation evening at Evesham Sports Club when Ivor Marshall welcomed members.

The president reported that the club had enjoyed a successful season with the ladies winning their section of the Concorde League.

The men finished second in their section but were successful in winning the South Worce-stershire Triples League and, with the lad-ies, were runners-up in the Vale Mixed Triples League.

At county level, Pauline Hodge and Mary Shephard were runners-up in the county pairs championship and took part in the National Cham-pionships at Leaming-ton Spa.

The president then presented trophies to the finalists.

NATIONAL success continues to come the way of Welford's players.

Judith Hart and Paul Speake were both successful in Singles competition, while Peter Day and Ken Chedgzoy overcame Rugby opponents in the Pairs.

Mixed Pairs action saw wins for Hart and Trevor Francis and Joan Parfitt and Mick Aubrey, the winners will now face each other in round four ensuring Welford representation in the later stages.

Francis, Chedgzoy and Day were victorious in the Triples, while the latter pair were joined by Viv Hall and Liz Chedgzoy to record a win in the Mixed Fours.

There was also national success in an Over-60s tournament when a strong Rugby side was defeated by 12 shots.

Wessex League action also brought a victory as Welford made it two out of two by overcoming Gloucester 109-65.

Welford won all four rinks as they picked up the maximum 16 points and they now top the Northern Division with 30 points.

However, the table toppers were given a shock against Mid-Glos when losing for the first time but they still hold the summit spot.
