THERE'S a whole new ball game taking place at Stratford Community Sports Centre where in-line skaters are blazing a trail in the field of roller hockey.

The club has been active for around 12 months and has steadily grown in popularity but it is now looking to expand even further.

Sessions take place on Tuesdays and Sundays between 6 and 8.30pm and 8 and 9.30pm respectively.

It's a sport open to all ages although club officials are keen to restrict newcomers to those aged 16 and over.

"We are slowly moving towards league status," said Dave Coones. "We aren't quite at that stage yet but we are hoping that an increase in numbers will give the club a boost."

The sport is taking off all around the UK, while players at Stratford travel in from all over the Midlands with the town the central point for its membership base.

In-Line skates are the obvious requirement for interested players but Dave will be more than happy to furnish would-be new members with more details.
