PUPILS at a special school have teamed up with their mainstream counterparts to celebrate national inclusion week.

Blakebrook Special School, Kidderminster, has established good links with other district schools.

And it held events to highlight the importance of building inclusive schools which cater for children of different cultural, disability, learning and social class.

Headteacher Mick Russell said: "We have many on-going arrangements with community and local primary and secondary schools. They take some of our children for a morning, afternoon or full day.

"It is quite successful providing friends for our pupils from local schools."

Among events held were an activity play day for younger children at Blakebrook and a theatre workshop.

Children from different schools also celebrated the week with a party laid on by McDonalds in Kidderminster.
