CHILDREN at a Kidderminster school are going global this Christmas.
Birchen Coppice First School, Woodbury Road, dropped its traditional harvest festival because it felt it had to keep up with the times and is now concentrating on supporting Operation Christmas Child.
Pupils have filled 50 shoeboxes with gifts for young victims of war and poverty.
Headteacher Janet Morris said: "We chose Operation Christmas Child to make our children more aware of our global community. It also involves children helping other children.
"Last year, we collected 26 boxes. This year we have increased the number because of the generosity of our parents."
