HOCKEY: Young Kidderminster showed flashes of their ability in the first half but lost 7-0 at Bridgnorth in DTZ League Midlands One.

They found their opponents too strong despite playing excellent hockey at times and were two down at half-time.

Though Kidderminster often attacked in the second half with Chris Brazier going close, they needed to win more midfield balls to give them further chances.

Bridgnorth rubbed salt into the wound with four goals in the last 15 minutes.

Kidderminster 2nds 1 Stratford 2

The seconds made a determined effort and were unlucky to concede a goal mid-way through the first half.

Stratford increased the lead early in the next period which spurred Kidderminster on and a break down the right allowed Richard Wheeler to slot home.

The home side pressed for the equaliser in a good team display but Stratford held firm.

Bridgnorth 8 Kidderminster 3rds 1

Kidderminster, down to 10 men due to a late cry-off, held out until mid-way through the first half.

They were 3-0 down at the break and conceded five more as Bridgnorth made use of their advantage.

Joe Sorrell scored with the last touch of the match from a short corner as the team played well despite a bad result.

Kidderminster 4ths 0 Kings Heath 1

The fourths were unfortunate to concede the only goal in the dying minutes in a DTZ League fixture.

Kings Heath only had 10 men but they were strong and had been kept out by keeper Tom Eales, Scott Edwards and man-of-the-match Chris Longmore who was outstanding as sweeper.

Pershore 0 Kidderminster Ladies 1

Under-strength Kidderminster were a player down for a top-of-the-table clash but managed to score a vital early goal.

Rachael Fidoe's free hit from just outside the D was converted by Kaye McDonald to calm the ladies' nerves.

Pershore pushed hard but excellent defending kept them at bay and ensured the town stay top of the league.
