THE man who revived professionally produced theatre in Hereford has said he will be stepping down from the helm of The Courtyard Theatre next year.
Jonathan Stone has been artistic director of the theatre since it opened and plans to take an extended break before resuming his career and pursuing other projects as a freelance director.
"Jonathan has played a key role in the undoubted success of The Courtyard," said Robin Price, chairman of the Courtyard Trust Board.
"In four years we have established a reputation for quality and diversity throughout the region.
"He will be greatly missed but he has assembled a talented team of professionals which can carry us to further success."
Mr Stone has enthralled audiences and won national acclaim with shows like West Side Story, and Entertaining Mr Sloane.
"Jonathan deserves the highest praise for his work and on behalf of the board I wish him every success with his post-Courtyard career," said Mr Price.
