BILL Harrison (You Say, October 18) raises the question of joining the euro and the fact that most people do not know enough about the pros and cons of joining.
I quite agree, since both pros and cons are pure speculation and guesswork. No one can guarantee that joining will be of benefit to us.
The parameters, which Tony Blair says must be met before joining, are really pie in the sky and don't mean anything.
Two things one can ask are, firstly, is the euro turning out to be a strong currency and secondly what is the situation regarding Germany's finances?
One thing that is certain is that we would be dragged into a federal state of Europe and thereby lose our sovereignty.
