MANOR Park Travellers lost their unbeaten record in Division Two of the Malvern Table Tennis League when they visited CSSC Trojans.

Trojans bounced back from their defeat the previous week to clinch a narrow victory. Two wins apiece and together the doubles for Dave Hayes and Dave Backhurst set up the win with Rob Redden winning one. For Travellers Mike Bellfield won two and Ken Hipwell and Martin Snee one each.

Ledbury Exhaust are now the only unbeaten team in the division but they were made to fight all the way by Malvern Juniors A.

Three wins for David Smith and two wins for Bill Nelson gave Juniors a deserved draw. Half of the games went to a deciding set. Matt Lane, guesting for the Juniors, was unlucky to lose all three especially in his match with Stewart Moss which Stewart won 12-10 in the fifth set. Stewart was equally unfortunate to lose 15-13 to David Smith in the deciding set. John Meredith and Ray Cooke each won two for the home team.

Manor Park Rangers proved too strong for Crackpots B with Dave Steen and Simon Morgan again picking up three wins each and Elaine Mills winning two. Nick Haggar partnered Dave to victory in the doubles. Stephen Lindner prevented the whitewash.

The other Crackpots team didn't fare much better. The E team lost 6-4 against Manor Park Wombats. Steve Glazzard led the way for the hosts with three wins. His team mates Richard Bennet and Paul Lythgoe each won one. James Palmer won two and Pete Harrold and Colin Dolding one apiece for Crackpots. Steve and Paul beat Pete and Colin 12-10 in the deciding set of the crucial doubles.

RESULTS: Ledbury Exhaust 5, Malvern Juniors A 5; CSSC Trojans 6, Manor Park Travellers 4; Manor Park Rangers 9, Crackpots B 1; Manor Park Wombats 6, Crackpots B 4.
