MCDONALD'S is being asked whether it would consider closing earlier after further talks on security at the Roman Way retail park.

Malvern Hills District Coun-cil will be writing to the chain to gauge its attitude to closing at 10pm rather than 11pm.

Talks were held on Tuesday between the park's agent and county and district councillor Tom Wells, who represents residents in the nearby Beauchamp Community.

Residents have been complaining about people joy-riding in the park after hours.

Speed humps have already been put down to deter them and MHDC included a condition that telescopic bollards be installed when it recently approved a planning application to extend the park.

Coun Wells said the talks looked at the practical installation of the bollards and also other security options, including a full barrier or even a security guard.

He said if McDonalds would agree to close early then the park could be secured by 10.30pm instead of 11.30pm, which he said was felt better. He acknowledged that the outlet had a perfect right to stay open till 11pm.
