CHILDREN in Elgar Avenue, Malvern, could soon have a new play area, if a plan by Elgar Housing Association gets the go-ahead.
The application to Malvern Hills District Council involves removing an existing play area and replacing it with a variety of new equipment.
"The existing playground is very old and the equipment had become unserviceable and in some cases dangerous," said Roy Bond, housing officer for the Elgar estate.
"We did surveys and the feeling was that the residents wanted the playground there, so we looked at the options and the costs to redevelop it."
The proposed facility includes swings, two multiplay units and a spring mobile, as well as a litter bin and a bench. The area would be grass, with black tiled safety surfacing under the play equipment.
"We are hoping it's going to be a much nicer facility with up to date equipment," said Mr Bond.
District council planners will study the application and a decision will be made over the coming weeks.
