MALVERN LADIES FC 3, Worcester City 1

ON Sunday, Malvern Ladies FC entertained Worcester City in the Wyvern Associates Cup at Victoria Park.

The match was played in very windy conditions, which made it difficult for both sides.

The Worcester goalkeeper was kept busy for the first 20 minutes bringing off a string of very fine saves.

After 24 minutes a goal kick from Worcester was held up in the wind and was pounced on by Becky Crack whose cross wad fired in by Emily Prosser.

In the 35th minute the Malvern midfield failed to get back to help their defence which left the Worcester players space to equalise.

Malvern replied within three minutes when a perfectly placed through ball from Flick Slater was lobbed over the advancing keeper by Emily Prosser.

The second half, like the first, was spoilt by the strong winds with both sides failing to get many attempts on goal.

In the 83rd minute a left wing cross from Karina Farr was scrambled home at the far post by Emma Hinchcliffe giving Malvern a hard fought 3-1 victory.

Helen Hammond and Sarah Cartridge both had good games for Malvern.

Malvern Ladies, sponsored by First Floor Flooring, next play Redditch Ladies at Victoria Park on Sunday, November 3, kick off 2pm.
