IF David Head, of Cowleigh Road, (Your Letters, October 18) is correct concerning the loyalty of Malvern customers to the current Malvern supermarkets (including a re-vamped Kwik Save in the Link which he failed to mention) then perhaps the Lidl saga can finally end.

With no customers from Malvern it is hardly likely that a prestigious German company would be foolish enough to open a store for some vague collection of shoppers from the west side of Worcester who already have their own Lidl branch.

Regarding the 'new problem' of the trees, this matter was raised at least two years ago when Lidl first suggested this bit of vandalism. With luck these will now be protected.

We didn't hear the "cock and bull" story here in the Link about traffic congestion. We are more worried about a car park with only one combined entrance and exit with capacity for 100 vehicles using a trunk road with limited capacity and with a traffic island proposed as a centre piece. We are trying to solve problems not create them.

We certainly don't want more card shops, charity shops or building societies. We also could probably do with fewer solicitors, financial advisors, estate agents and the rest but then we would have most of the shops empty.

Perhaps we could compromise about a new supermarket, could one be built in the Cowleigh Road area? Just knock down a few dozen houses with enough room for a large car park. There's obviously no traffic problem there.
