Malvern weather watcher Frank Hill said Sunday's winds were the strongest since December 1993.
Mr Hill said: "Several gusts were over 60mph and the strongest was 87mph, just before 7.30am."
Although the wind in December 1993 was generally stronger and lasted longer, it peaked at just 76mph.
