POWICK Playing Field Association is holding a disco in Powick Parish Hall on Saturday, November 9 from 8pm till late. Music will be from the 60s and 70s era. There will be a raffle and bar. Tickets priced £5 are available from members of the committee.

The annual service of remembrance takes place at St Peter's Church, Powick on Sunday, November 10 at 10.50am. Members of the Royal British Legion (Powick & Callow End Branch) will be in attendance and will be supported by uniformed members of the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts (7th Worcester Scout Group) and members of 1st Powick Brownies. The youth organisations are asked to assemble in the church drive at 10.30am. A rehearsal for the standard bearers of the organisations will take place on Wednesday, November 6 at 6pm in the church.

A jumble sale and table top sale jointly take place in Powick Parish Hall on Saturday, November 16 from noon till 3pm. Jumble will be on sale in the Community (small) hall while the table top sale is in the main hall. Tables can be booked at the cost of £5, ring Thea Wild on (01905) 831048 or Jenny Hill on (01905) 830672. Proceeds are in aid of Powick Church and St James', Callow End.

Harvest was celebrated at Powick Church and was beautifully decorated with flowers, fruit and foliage by a talented team of parishioners. A harvest gathering took place in Powick Parish hall, organised by the hall management committee. A buffet supper was provided by Helen Bartlett and Julia Evans and the bar was manned by John Turner. A story telling session was presented by Peggy Wilkinson with guitar music by Keith. Over 80 people attended and a profit of £400 was made from ticket sales and raffle for hall funds.

On Sunday, November 10 the regular book fair takes place in Powick Parish Hall from 10am-4pm.

Pupils of Powick School celebrated the end of term last week with a bad hair day when the children sported hair in braids, in colour sprays, gels and spikes. A sponsored bounce (in a bouncy castle) raised money for books and resources.

Members of 1st Powick Brownies recently took part in Worcester Division's Brownie Revels at Norton and Littleworth Village hall. Activities centred around the theme of pantomime. There is no Brownie meeting tonight (Friday) but meetings commence on Friday, November 8. Brownies have been cooking towards the Cooks badge and will be planting spring bulbs.

Last month the United Benefice Service of Evensong was held at St Peter's Church, Powick. It took the form of a time of reflection with remembrance and thanksgiving for those who have passed away. Members of the congregation were invited to light a candle in remembrance of a loved one. The service, conducted by Reverend David Nichol, was well attended.
