A CHAMPION coffee morning organiser who has helped raise thousands of pounds for Kemp Hospice has earned some liquid refreshment.
Joan Baynton has run the weekly event at Kidderminster Library for the past three years, bringing in more than £2,000 annually to boost the hospice's building appeal and contribute towards its running costs.
The retired sales manager, of Kendlewood Road, Kidderminster, brings sustenance to shoppers aided by "six wonderful volunteers".
"Friends and family have been touched by cancer," said Mrs Baynton. "I wanted to do some charity work and also wanted to do something that would help the local community.
"I enjoy the fundraising side of it and I help with other events where needed."
She added: "This was a really nice surprise. I'm just one of many who do a lot of good for the hospice."
The coffee mornings run between 9.30 and noon every Thursday.
