A LITTER scavenger could lose his Kidderminster home if council bosses press ahead with plans to buy it.

Residents of George Street are breathing sighs of relief after Wyre Forest District Council revealed its intention to impose a compulsory purchase order on a house owned by Dennis Bostock.

The 66-year-old moved to Blackpool in 1996 after a running battle with the council over storing rubbish in his house.

Persistent breaches of injunctions stopping him from carrying out his litter-hoarding habit landed him behind bars.

He has also been jailed at the seaside resort for setting fire to litter bins.

A report to the council's executive, which meets in Stourport this evening, said Mr Bostock had moved back to the house in George Street on "a number of occasions" and had planning permission to bring it back into habitable condition.

However, he has "drifted in and out" of communication with the council and is now thought to be living back in Blackpool.

The executive will decide whether to press on with the CPO. The report said buying the property would help meet Kidderminster's housing need.
